Written as a narrative exposition rather than a critical verse-by-verse analysis (although discussions on all important historical and scientific problems are woven into the narrative), The Genesis Record is equally useful to both the theologically trained and the layperson.
Dr. Morris writes from the conviction that the first eleven chapters of Genesis are as truly historical as the remaining thirty-nine. This conviction is based not simply on faith but on many years of study of the scientific aspects of the Genesis record as well as the interchange of ideas with many other scientists and theologians (both creationists and evolutionists).
In The Genesis Record, the reader is conducted by a capable guide through the important corridors of earth's early history, providing the background so necessary in understanding all of Scripture.

I am about half way through this book. Its excellent and does a great job highlighting many interesting points. The new testament references he ties in really help add lots of context. My only wish is that it was updated, as this 1976 publishing doesn't include the latest research, example - I believe the water vapor canopy theory is now not the accepted theory any longer.
For decades, I said that "The Genesis Record" is Henry Morris's magnum opus...but then he added, "The Henry Morris Study Bible," which has to be the single most important book that he could ever write (it is hard to compete with the complete text of God's Word in addition to 10,000 terrific observations from Henry).
Given that the Bible is our only "must have" resource, "The Genesis Record" is as close to a "must have" resource as one could want. Henry's brilliance, humility, and reverence for God come through clearly.
If you don't already own it, quit reading reviews and order it! :-)
